Alumni of Atlantic Acting School can be seen on stages and screens around the world. Atlantic prides itself on graduating students who are ready to work and on our expansive network of alumni that have professional careers in the theater, film, and television industries. Alumni have been recognized with numerous Golden Globe, Tony, and Screen Actors Guild Awards, and many return to Atlantic Acting School to teach guest classes and workshops.
Atlantic is proud to introduce our recent classes of graduates who are taking the industry by storm! See their virtual showcase materials, headshots, and resumes, by which program they attended.
Atlantic Acting School is committed to providing lifelong opportunities for our alumni. Through community building events, classes, and productions, graduates not only connect on a personal level, but often foster working relationships with like-minded collaborators and industry professionals.
Atlantic provides the alumni community with a place to perform through an annual showcase, plays, workshops, and readings, as well as musical cabarets at Atlantic Theater Company’s Off-Broadway house, Stage 2. For more information please reach out to alumni@atlantictheater.org.
Each year, alumni are eligible to perform in Atlantic’s annual Industry Showcase. Through this performance for industry professionals, alumni regularly sign with agents and managers as well as meet casting directors and creative artists who help them gain professional employment.
The annual Alumni Mixer invites alumni-formed companies to share information about current projects and to network with members of the Atlantic community. Alumni have access to other free events including both industry panels and Q&As with casting directors, agents, managers, and other industry guests. They also can register for exclusive classes taught by leading industry players in scene study, audition technique, commercial auditions, audiobooks, and more. The monthly alumni newsletter provides regular news from the theater company and acting school, and keeps alumni connected to their community. Alumni also connect during pre-show mixers as part of School Night, which offers free and discounted tickets to Atlantic Theater Company mainstage productions.
Atlantic has provided numerous graduates with their first professional job and entrance into Actors’ Equity Association. Alumni have the unique opportunity to self-submit and be considered for Atlantic Theater Company productions, several have even been invited to join Atlantic’s ensemble. Many Atlantic Acting School alumni have also been cast in the extremely popular Atlantic for Kids productions, which are performed on Atlantic’s mainstage each year.
Alumnus Brian Charles Johnson was cast in Atlantic Theater Company’s Tony award-winning production of Spring Awakening; Atlantic Ensemble member Clark Gregg cast Atlantic Alumni in his film, Choke; and David Mamet cast students in his films Redbelt and Phil Spector.
“I’m probably as proud an Atlantic Alumni as they come—From using my training for every script, to experiencing how empowering and fruitful it’s been to create for yourself. Atlantic really made clear how vital it was to find my artistic tribe. I’ve even had the honor of playing Susan in Mamet’s “Race” at CTG under Scott Zigler’s direction. I’m so thankful for my years at Atlantic learning from the most brilliant directors & experts a training program could offer.”

“They had even longer programs than the one I was in. I came to them a little bit, I felt, later into my 20s and so I was like, I’m ready to go and try to get jobs. I did their summer intensive, which was like a boot camp. It was beautiful. It was a whole summer of just living and breathing plays and scenes. We learned everything from scene analysis, to movement, to kind of like meditative Meisner work. It was all in. Oh man. To this day, I still use so much of what I learned from them in what I do. I still carry the notebook that I started back then, my gosh. Whenever I see Cynthia Silver, or Anya Saffir, or Robert Bella, I’m like, ‘Oh you guys taught me how to act! You’re the reason I’m making a living today!'”

“Every line I say on set or on stage is really a secret ‘thank you’ to Atlantic. I learned something pivotal from each and every teacher and added all together, it made me who I am as a performer. I am incredibly lucky to have trained at Atlantic– it gave me an unshakeable foundation on which to build a life as an actor.”

“I had such a wonderful experience training at Atlantic, and truly left changed and inspired! Atlantic doesn’t just teach students how to be good “actors”, their curriculum empowers you to become a professional. Whether I am working on camera or onstage, the practical aesthetic techniques I gained from Atlantic have been incredibly useful, and formed a strong foundation upon which I have grown and expanded as an artist.”

“Atlantic Acting School is the reason why I am able to do what I love for a living. It provided me a safe haven for molding my acting craft, but more importantly became a home away from home. Atlantic Theater Company cast me in my very first professional show (the Off-Broadway production of Spring Awakening), and I’ve been working in stage and film ever since. Thank you, Atlantic, for all that you’ve done for me, and continue to do for the theater community and the art of acting.”

“It was an amazing week and I want to thank you for any premeditation in placing me in my ensemble. I am finding myself surrounded by young adults that are thoughtful and committed and it’s just so great. I knew I wanted a full time professional program, so I looked to your site and found the conservatory. I had also applied to Strasberg. I was accepted at the same time as I received the Atlantic’s acceptance and knew in my heart I wanted to come to the Atlantic, but truthfully was afraid of the level of time commitment. So I spoke to a teacher I had taken a Method workshop with, thinking she’d tell me to accept the Strasberg invitation and she said ‘The Atlantic is so highly revered, if there’s anyway you can take that program on, do it’. So I did.”

“One of the best points of my life was getting to do this conservatory. The people that I met at Atlantic are some of the greatest people that have ever come into my life. They all were there for the same reason—for the same passion, so it was really cool to be around all those like-minded people. At Atlantic, we got to do tons of work that really pushed us to our limits. I wouldn’t be the actor that I was now if I hadn’t done Atlantic. I definitely go back to that technique, and I have also taken it and shifted it and made it into my own.”

“I think the best part of Atlantic is it gives you a chance to do everything that you could possibly imagine doing. I’ve literally not worked as hard since leaving school as I did while I was in school. The curriculum is extremely thorough and every course has its purpose. Really every single class all the way through has such a profound impact on one’s career, certainly on mine.”

“I would recommend Atlantic to aspiring actors, primarily because of the great teachers and also the work ethic they instill in people. Atlantic really drills it into you that it’s a noble thing to go up on stage and try to tell stories to people. If you want all of the stuff that you know you’re doing wrong stripped away from you so that you can start from a great, pure place and rebuild yourself back up, if you want a place to grow and learn and change, Atlantic is definitely the place for you.”
