THE WORKING ACTOR

Instructor: CYNTHIA SILVER
  Fall dates: TBD (6 classes)
Wednesday evenings 6:30-9:00pm
Tuition: $350

Led by Cynthia Silver, this workshop will arm you with the information and tools necessary to pursue an acting career of prosperity and staying power. Whether you are fresh out of training and and just starting your professional acting career, recently relocated to New York, or have been pursuing a career for some time and simply feel stuck in a rut, this workshop is a great opportunity to get motivated and get inspired to set your career on the path of YOUR CHOICE.

CYNTHIA SILVER has been on faculty at the Atlantic since 1998, teaching Performance Technique, Repetition, and the Business of Acting. She is a member of Partial Comfort Productions (www.partialcomfort.org), a founding member of Mobius Group Productions, and creator, co-author, and performer of the award winning and critically acclaimed one-woman show, BRIDEZILLA STRIKES BACK!

"Cynthia's class lit me up. I feel like the artist I came to acting to be. This class frees you from a false choice: Ingratiate yourself to the industry or you will not receive a break. This class taught me not to wait around for that break. I can fire up my imagination and make the world I long to live in and so, make my own breaks. Freedom!" --Hugh Scully, President, Mylo Productions

"Cynthia Silver's class, The Working Actor, fills a void in most actors' education by providing an introduction to critical personal management and organizational skills. These are clearly presented in a way in which their relevance to our business is readily apparent. They're also put immediately to use so that participants see real results during the run of the course. The comradery enjoyed in this class reminds the new and seasoned actor alike that we all have something to learn and all have something to offer one another. Drawing on her own experiences and those of the participants and popular industry guests, Cynthia leads this class through exercises and discussions that will impact and shape an actors career for years to come!" --Joe Leo, Artistic Director, Misfit Toys Repertory Company

VOCAL WORKSHOP

Fall Dates TBD
Wednesday evenings 6:30-8:30pm
Tuition: $500

Students will learn the 24 core exercises that comprise the Jones Based Atlantic Vocal Warm-Up Sequence. The vocal warm-up is designed to connect the actor to the whole body as a vocal instrument. The warm-up develops vocal power, audibility, articulation, and expression, and protects the performer from vocal strain and damage. The weekly classes will be taught by Atlantic Faculty member and Alumnus Daniel Sergio. As an Atlantic Alumnus Daniel understands and works with the Atlantic technique. Daniel can use this knowledge to initiate the Atlantic trained actor into an integrated mind/body expressive connection, for greater vocal spontaneity and dramatic range.
